Overview
Week 3 is subjectively the last week of the “beginning of the season”. We start seeing some normal performances, while some teams continue to show their play-calling creativity to keep everyone honest.
Todd and Ryan duke it out in the highest-scoring matchup of the week. Ryan is able to collect on his debt from Lady Luck and, by the skin of his teeth, is able to come up with the win. Fred, Roy, Mike, and Leon put up 100+ points this week. This is also Roy’s first win of the season.
Tony also finds his first win of the season, helping Allen earn the name ‘08 Detroit Lions.
It’s still incredibly early in the season, but it’s hard to ignore how the league standings are starting to reveal who is still contending this season and who should consider selling.
Reviewing the Matchup of the Week
Being the only team with their key player in their roster, it’s no surprise that Roy comes out on top in the matchup.
Dak may have lost it for the Cowboys, but he did just enough to guarantee a win over Sam.
Power Rankings
Now that we have 3 weeks worth of games played, the power rankings formula is in full effect.
The power rankings are really exposing Josh and how he got to 2nd place overall: 61% luck. Todd may not be at the top of the league standings, but the power rankings still has him rated almost 10 points over Ryan.
Finally having a win, Roy climbs up an entire 3 ranks. Unfortunately for Tony, the formula doesn’t respect him any higher than 12th.
Matchup of the Week
Yahoo projects Leon and Ryan having the closest matchup going into Week 4.
I’m going to go back to my betting bias here and pick the underdogs. The math backs me up on this with the power rankings formula. Hopefully the numbers don’t let me down like how moneyball did to the Oakland A’s.

Blasting Off Again
With the “beginning” of the season gone, Week 4 is going to show us which teams are consistent and which teams are not. Fantasy football is all about the boom or bust cycle, so don’t let the game rob you of your championship dreams.
