2024, Week 7 Newsletter
15 Oct 2024Press Box Observations
Overview
Being the opposite of last week, Week 6 had the the worst production in the league. Only 4 teams had broken the 100+ barrier: Ryan lead the week with 140.40
points, joined in the century club by Sam, David, and Todd.
Josh finally snaps back to reality, taking his first loss of the year and sullying his journey towards a perfect season. Deliverying that loss, Allen continues to improve his team’s record, showing us that reverse psychology can convince a fantasy football team to not live like the 2008 Lions. Tony also beats Roy to prove a point that you can still be a threat at the bottom of the standings.
Speaking of the bottom of the standings, I take the honor of the largest blowout for the week with Todd pulling a whopping 58.87
-point differential.
The face-off between Mike and Fred had the smallest margin of victory, with Mike scraping by on 5.46
points. Without Younghoe Koo, Fred doesn’t have enough Falcon players to complete his Exodia set to win this week.
Reviewing the Matchup of the Week
79.94
to 102.42
The matchup of the week was fantasy football’s version of “Moneyball”, with David continuing to uphold his .500
win-rate and beating Leon . In the age of AWS Next Gen Stats, Leon had an uphill fight this week to overcome this ludicrous “technology” that highlights players with circles like Bryce Young incorrectly reading the coverage.
As long as David stays the course, things will look good for Roy in the upcoming week.
Power Rankings
We see a lot of changes in the Power Rankings. Allen and Sam make the largest climbs out of the bottom of the standings, while Roy and I fall further into the abyss.
Despite his record, the Power Rankings attribute Tony as being lucky to be in 10th, continuing to leave Sam as the unluckiest team in the league.
Matchup of the Week
Yes, this may not be the most appealing match-up to date. But, add in a bit of Las Vegas odds, and it becomes a lot more interesting.
Giving Sam odds at -15.5
, it’s a lot more difficult to say that he’ll cover the spread. Even with some fancy substitutions – and possibily a waiver wire pickup – Tony has a shot at coming out on top as the underdog.
I think Tony’s team has what it takes to keep it within 15.5
points.
